Peer mentoring programs are available to help develop a supportive and effective learning community at the University. Mentoring gives new students the opportunity to meet peers and build networks, learn about student life and settle in to the University.
The Sydney Law School Peer Mentoring Program starts during Welcome week and runs for the first few weeks of Semester 1. In the program a mentor will be paired with a group of five to 10 students. The first meeting takes place on Welcome day.
Mentors help their mentees by:
- giving information about the various services on campus
- organising two mentoring group activities and introducing their mentees to other students
- inviting mentees to social and academic events
- providing general information about life in Sydney
- being someone to talk to about experiences and studies.
Mentors are not intended to replace the academic advice, tutoring or assistance with your course material provided by your faculty or school.
Why Become a Mentor?
Why Become a Mentee?
One of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination. - John C. Maxwell
