In your third year of study as a Dalyell Scholar, you can take part in the Dalyell Professional Mentoring Program, where you will be connected with mentoring from an experienced industry professional in the field of your choice.

Guided by your Industry Mentor in a small group with other Dalyell Scholars, you will:
- Explore your career goals and aspirations with expert advice and support.
- Build high-level employability skills necessary for successfully transitioning to the workplace, including self-awareness, communication and influence.
- Gain practical insights into the realities of the workplace and learn from your mentor’s considerable experience as an industry leader.
- Develop your networks with industry and build relationships with other high-achieving Dalyell Scholars interested in similar career paths.
Program Activities
As a participant in the program, you will attend and actively participate in three small group mentoring sessions which each run for approximately one hour. Students who successfully complete the program also have the option to redeem a one-on-one mentoring session with their Industry Mentor.
To help you prepare for these sessions, make a good impression on your Industry Mentor and get the most out of the mentoring experience, you will also need to attend an induction and complete pre-session and post-session work. This may take you approximately one to two hours per mentoring session.
Your Industry Mentors are senior industry professionals who are volunteering to support you. They are usually alumni from the University of Sydney or other senior leaders connected with our university community.
You will also need to agree to remain in regular contact with your Industry Mentor, other Dalyell Scholars and staff involved in the program, and conduct yourself with professionalism and respect at all times.
